Following its acquisition of VinBrain and the expansion of its research operations in Vietnam, NVIDIA is accelerating its artificial intelligence strategy, aiming to position Hanoi as one of Southeast Asia’s leading AI hubs.
At the 2026 Conference on the Announcement of Hanoi’s Capital Master Plan and Investment Promotion, an NVIDIA representative revealed that the company’s operations in Vietnam had grown by nearly 130% between 2025 and 2026. Meanwhile, the NVIDIA Vietnam Research and Development Center, known as VRDC, recorded growth of approximately 90%.
NVIDIA Expands AI Research and Development in Vietnam
A key part of NVIDIA’s strategy is expanding its team of engineers, researchers and artificial intelligence specialists in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Rather than viewing Vietnam solely as a market for technology adoption, NVIDIA aims to establish local research and development capabilities. Vietnamese teams are expected to contribute to areas including speech AI, computer vision, AI infrastructure, smart-city technology and agentic AI systems capable of planning and performing tasks autonomously.

Another notable focus is the development of Vietnamese large language models using NVIDIA’s technology platforms.
Building AI models that understand the Vietnamese language, local context and domestic data is an important foundation for advancing sovereign AI. It also enables Vietnamese organisations to develop digital applications that respond more effectively to the needs of local users.
Vietnamese-language AI models could be applied across education, healthcare, finance, customer service, tourism and hospitality.
Within the hospitality industry, AI can support automated booking assistants, Vietnamese-language chatbots, guest feedback analysis and personalised travel recommendations. NVIDIA’s expansion is closely connected to its acquisition of VinBrain, an artificial intelligence company previously operating within the Vingroup ecosystem.
According to an earlier statement by Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, financial value was not the only priority when transferring technology companies to international partners. Investors were also expected to develop research centres, employ Vietnamese professionals and contribute to the growth of the country’s technology ecosystem.
