DIFF 2026 pushed Da Nang hotel occupancy to 98%, creating major opportunities for hotels, F&B businesses and the hospitality industry ahead of HORECFEX Vietnam 2026.

DIFF 2026 Pushes Da Nang Hotel Occupancy to 98%: What Opportunities Does This Create for the Hospitality Industry?

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2026 did more than illuminate the Han River with spectacular performances. The festival also became a powerful driver of growth for the city’s tourism, hotel, restaurant and service sectors.

Held from May 30 to July 11, 2026, DIFF attracted more than 2.72 million overnight visitors to Da Nang, representing an increase of nearly 45% compared with the previous festival season. These figures demonstrate how major international events can stimulate tourism demand and generate new revenue opportunities across the hospitality ecosystem.

Da Nang Hotels Nearly Fully Booked for the DIFF 2026 Finale

On July 11 alone, the night of the DIFF 2026 finale, Da Nang welcomed approximately 131,000 overnight visitors, up 16% year on year. This included around 52,400 international visitors, an increase of 27%, and 78,600 domestic visitors, up nearly 10%.

Average hotel occupancy across the city reached approximately 85%. Many properties in central areas, along Vo Nguyen Giap beachfront, near the Han River and close to the fireworks grandstands recorded occupancy rates of 95-98%, with several hotels reaching full capacity.

Hotels near the fireworks display site were fully booked

Four- and five-star hotels and resorts maintained occupancy rates of around 80-85%, while hotels rated three stars and below achieved approximately 85-90%. This was among the highest hotel occupancy levels recorded during recent editions of DIFF.

Air travel also experienced significant growth. Across the six fireworks weekends, Da Nang welcomed more than 1,900 domestic and international flights, an increase of approximately 7% compared with the same period in 2025. On July 10 and 11 alone, around 365 flights arrived at and departed from the city, highlighting the strong appeal of Da Nang during the peak festival period.

Major Events Are Transforming Hospitality Operations

A rapid increase in visitor numbers over a short period creates substantial revenue potential. However, it also places greater pressure on hotels, restaurants, tourism businesses and other service providers.

Businesses must strengthen their preparations for staffing, room management, guest coordination, food supply, restaurant operations, transportation and service quality. During peak periods, even a small issue involving check-in, payment, reservations or service delivery can affect the experience of thousands of visitors.

Da Nang welcomed a large influx of visitors attending DIFF 2026

Technology therefore plays an increasingly important role. Property management systems, booking platforms, point-of-sale solutions, customer relationship management software, artificial intelligence, service robots and data analytics tools can help businesses forecast demand, optimise pricing, allocate employees and improve operational efficiency.

Hotels and restaurants can also develop event-based products, including accommodation packages combined with fireworks tickets, themed menus, shuttle services, rooftop dining and dedicated fireworks-viewing experiences. Rather than simply selling rooms or meals, businesses can create complete visitor journeys that encourage longer stays and higher spending.

HORECFEX Vietnam 2026 Connects Hospitality with the Future

The success of DIFF 2026 reinforces Da Nang’s position as a leading event and MICE destination in the region. However, to fully capture demand generated by festivals, conferences and international events, hospitality businesses must continue investing in technology, operational capabilities and workforce development.

These priorities will be at the centre of HORECFEX Vietnam 2026, a major exhibition and forum dedicated to technology and innovation across the hotel, restaurant and tourism industries.

HORECFEX VIETNAM - Exhibition and Forum on Technology and Innovation in the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Industry.

Taking place on August 20-21, 2026, at Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, HORECFEX 2026 will connect hospitality leaders, technology providers, experts and decision-makers to explore solutions for a more agile, efficient and future-ready service industry.

DIFF creates the visitor flow. Technology, people and operational excellence determine whether hospitality businesses can transform that demand into sustainable growth.
