(Tuoitre.vn) – At the opening session of the Innovation Technology Exhibition and Forum for the Hospitality Industry held in Da Nang on the morning of September 23, various service robots were showcased by businesses, leaving a strong impression on the attendees.
The Innovation Technology Exhibition and Forum for the Hospitality Industry (Horecfex) Vietnam 2024 was co-organized by the Vietnam Hotel Association and Ariyana Danang International Convention Center in Da Nang from September 23 to 24.
Hotel Robots Energize Da Nang
On the first day of the event, visitors and the business community had the opportunity to directly explore and experience the latest devices and applications in the tourism industry.
The organizers brought multiple robots to the exhibition hall to interact with attendees. These robot models, imported from abroad and widely used in other countries, made their debut in Da Nang.
During the opening ceremony on the morning of September 23, a “receptionist” robot, dressed in a traditional Vietnamese hat and áo dài, interacted with the host. On stage, this robot demonstrated various welcoming gestures with ease and read a greeting message explaining its presence at the event in Da Nang.
In the technology exhibition space, another service robot, acting like a diligent employee, served food and beverages to the guests.
Mr. Ho Thanh Tam, Director of Tam Tam Hotel Consulting and Management Company (Da Nang), shared that this particular robot was imported from China. The morning of September 23 marked its first public debut.
“This is a hotel service robot. Based on pre-programmed instructions, the robot can deliver food, beverages, and items to designated locations as requested. With sensors around its body, the robot can autonomously navigate and avoid obstacles,” said Mr. Tam.
The company also introduced an outdoor service robot. This model, resembling a miniature trolley, can move on uneven terrain and in complex conditions.
Da Nang Hosts Its First Tourism Technology Exhibition
According to Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People’s Committee, the tourism industry’s rapid growth has driven businesses to invest in enhancing service quality.
Recently, more and more establishments have incorporated advanced technology into their service chains. The fact that Da Nang is hosting Horecfex Vietnam for the first time provides a platform for showcasing the latest technologies and promoting new trends in the tourism industry for the near future.
Ms. Do Thi Hong Xoan, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, noted that Vietnam ranks among the top 10 countries with the fastest-growing tourism industry globally, with 38,000 accommodation establishments nationwide. Therefore, the adoption of technology and digital platforms is becoming a trend.
She added that Horecfex Vietnam 2024 is the first and largest technology event for the tourism industry. The event introduces new information on technology application and innovation in the operation of hotels, restaurants, and culinary service providers.
This contributes not only to the development of service and tourism businesses but also enhances the unique experiences for tourists visiting Vietnam, promoting sustainable growth in the industry.
