Chef Rang Nguyen (also known as Chef Rang Cana) is an influential culinary entrepreneur. Born in the fishing village of Ca Na, Vietnam, he endured a challenging journey—escaping by boat, living in a refugee camp, and eventually being accepted into Canada, where he began his career washing dishes at a seafood restaurant in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
In Canada, Chef Rang was introduced to the world of gastronomy by French chefs, rising to become an executive chef and earning his Red Seal certification in Toronto. He worked at Le Sélect Bistro and mentored Matty Matheson—who later became a globally recognized celebrity chef.
Through the TV show Dead Set on Life by Vice, Chef Rang became a beloved culinary personality. Guided by his philosophy of “cooking with love,” he now provides private dining and restaurant consulting services while building his personal brand through diverse products and charitable initiatives.
